Ideal for families who prefer connection-focused portraits outdoors, with limited solo baby images. Gently guided for natural interactions. Up to 1.5 hours depending on group size.
Session lengths are approximate and designed to allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and baby-led pacing.
Tips for a Smooth Sarasota In-Home Newborn Session
The ideal age for posed newborn photography is between 6–30 days old, though I regularly photograph babies up to 8 weeks. As babies grow, they often prefer cozy, wrapped posing rather than the more curled “squishy” poses you may see in my portfolio.
For the best experience, I recommend reserving your session before your due date to ensure availability during that sweet window.

It includes my wake-time approach that’s especially helpful with older newborns.
- Warmth is key. Warmth helps babies stay sleepy and settled.
- Have a pacifier on-hand. Even if not used regularly, it helps during transitions.
- Expect frequent feeding. Babies often feed more during the session – this is totally normal!
- Don’t skip burping. Air trapped in baby’s tummy can make posing uncomfortable.

From Setup to Family Portraits: What to Expect
When I arrive at your home, I’ll begin setting up while you start feeding your baby. A full tummy and a warm space are the key ingredients for those beautifully sleepy poses!
If you’re pumping or supplementing, it’s helpful to have a few small bottles ready for easy top-offs throughout the session.
While you’re settling in or taking a moment to relax, I’ll begin photographing your newborn using gentle, baby-led posing techniques. Once you’re ready, we’ll transition into parent and family portraits.
To keep your baby comfortable and cozy throughout the session, the shooting space will be warmed to around 85°F. I’ll bring a space heater to create the ideal environment.
Keep in mind: your baby just came from 98.6° – even 85 can feel cool when unwrapped!
Until it’s your turn in front of the camera, feel free to stay cozy in loungewear – I’ll be doing the same.
The Final Touches: Wrapping Up Your Sarasota In-Home Newborn Photos
Everything brought to your session is planned in advance around your preferred colors, styling, and overall vision, and a bit of space is needed which I’ll determine ahead of time. I’ll typically set up in the room with the best accessibility and least natural light – often a dining area, kitchen, or spacious bedroom. This is planned in advance during your in-home design appointment.
For family portraits, I’ll either use a clean wall or set up a neutral backdrop, depending on what works best in your home. Everything is thoughtfully planned ahead of time to ensure a seamless, cohesive result.
If older siblings are involved, I recommend having another adult available or bringing them in just for their portion of the session. This helps keep the environment calm and focused on your newborn.
During the session, you’re free to relax, eat, and enjoy the downtime – especially during longer sessions.
When we wrap, we’ll review your images together on my laptop These are unedited previews, but viewing them in person allows you to choose the images that resonate most. I’ll guide you through the process so it feels simple and enjoyable. ♥
