Blush Pink Cake Smash Session in Sarasota | Alaina Turns One

Blush pink upscale cake smash for baby girl’s first birthday, Sarasota milestone session

A Blush Pink Cake Smash Session in Sarasota

I recently had the joy of photographing sweet baby Alaina’s first birthday with a blush pink Cake Smash Session in Sarasota designed right in her family’s home. I first photographed her older brother Avery’s cake smash session a few years ago, so it was especially meaningful to work with this family again.

Alaina’s mom, Brooke, chose a soft blush pink color palette inspired by her nursery, creating a beautifully simple and feminine setup. These softly styled studio-style cake smash sessions are some of my favorite milestone portraits to create.

Celebrating Alaina’s First Birthday

Alaina’s cake smash session felt like such a sweet celebration of this stage of life – full of personality, curiosity, and so much love for her big brother Avery.

“She loves playing peek-a-boo, climbing on everything, doing everything her brother does, giving hugs and snuggles, dancing, and swimming,” Brooke shared. “She loves the water!”

Studio-Style First Birthday Portraits at Home

One of Brooke’s favorite parts of the session was seeing Alaina and Avery together in front of the camera.

“I loved seeing them interact during sibling photos – it was a bit of a challenge at times, but we still captured some really sweet moments!” she shared. “Watching her react to the cake was also hilarious. I thought she would dive right in, but she was curious and cautious, just like her brother was at one!”

Throughout her first year, Alaina has brought so much joy, laughter, and energy to her family.

“Some of my favorite memories are family cuddles and bedtime stories,” Brooke reflected. “It’s been really special to watch the bond between siblings grow. As an only child myself, seeing that relationship develop has been amazing. It’s also so much fun having a little girl and seeing how different her personality is from her brother’s. She’s such a happy – and bossy – little baby! One of our favorite memories was taking a family trip to Georgia when Alaina was 6 months old. It was a lot to manage with two little ones, but we made so many special memories on that trip.”

Like many growing families, life with two little ones has brought both new challenges and so many sweet moments.

“The adjustment to two babies has actually been easier than the adjustment to my first – even with new challenges,” Brooke shared. “I’m so much less anxious this time! The lack of sleep is still very real though. It’s amazing how different two babies can be, but also how they go through such similar phases.”

Looking ahead, Brooke hopes these portraits will become something Alaina loves looking back on one day – just like her big brother already does.

“My 4-year-old already loves looking back at his baby pictures – he asks to see them all the time. I hope Alaina will love seeing hers too, and that they’ll always remind her how much she is loved and how adorable she was.”

Planning a Cake Smash Session in Sarasota

It was so special getting to photograph another milestone for this sweet family – toddler moments and all.

“Thank you so much for spending so much time with us and helping us navigate a few toddler meltdowns to make sure we got great photos,” Brooke wrote.

One of my favorite parts of photographing families over the years is getting to watch little personalities grow and seeing siblings step into new roles along the way.

If you’re planning a cake smash or milestone session for your little one, I’d love to help you create portraits that feel personal, polished, and true to this season of life.
